Senior Front-End Engineer 

While many front-end developers are only required to be minimally skilled, cut-and-paste artists, we’re looking for something more. We expect you to write, refactor, maintain, and clean JavaScript files. At Spil Games, our engineers build new platforms from start to finish, deciding what to build, how to build it, and then work with a small team of brilliant engineers to do implement it. Spil believes in having small teams of highly influential engineers who have the resources and support required to get the job done.

The core tasks and responsibilities of this position are:

• Producing clean, testable JavaScript for dynamic client-server communication;
• Refactoring and focusing on the continual improvement of existing JavaScript codebase;
• Assuming full ownership of the front-end layer of the platform;
• Ensuring cross-browser compatibility, scalability, and optimal performance; 
• Participating in brainstorming sessions with Quality Assurance, Community Management, and Development teams.

About Technology:
We write software in the morning and see the world use it the same evening. We do portals, payment solutions, back-end logic, algorithms, performance engineering, scalability, databases, widgets and front-end.

The Agile manifesto is our mantra. We use object-oriented PHP, scalable and powerful Erlang, flexible and logical Python, slick JavaScript, modularized CSS and innovative HTML5. Oh, one last thing. We do not do Excel. Really.

• At least 2-3 years of experience working with JavaScript (preferably for high availability/high traffic websites)
• Familiar with OO concepts (preferably JavaScript)
• Unit testing and TDD experience is desirable
• Passion for front-end performance optimization is an advantage
• Knowledge of Git or any other version control tool is a plus
• Up-to-date knowledge of HTML5 APIs is a plus
• Knowledge of Flash/AS3 and automated testing tools such as Selenium is a plus
• Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal 
• In possession of a valid European work permit
